In a monumental stride for Indian infrastructure, the Jammu & Kashmir’s Chenab Bridge, hailed as the world’s highest arch bridge, is set to host its inaugural train on August 15.
This engineering marvel stands as a testament to India’s prowess in challenging terrain and marks a significant milestone in the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.

A Triumph of Engineering and Connectivity
Spanning the mighty Chenab River at a height of 359 meters above the river bed, the bridge is a feat of awe-inspiring structural engineering and a symbol of connectivity for the region. The USBRL project has triumphed over daunting topographical, geological, and tectonic challenges, includes extensive tunnels and bridges, with the Chenab Bridge being its crown jewel.

Upon its launch, the service will enable passengers to traverse from Reasi in Jammu to Baramulla in Kashmir, covering a substantial segment of the 272 km long USBRL corridor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to throw open the bridge for the public on August 15.

The Chenab Bridge not only stands as a marvel of engineering but also represents the spirit of ‘Make-in-India’, showcasing the nation’s capability to undertake and complete such ambitious projects independently.
