Srinagar: A momentous initiative promoting peace, unity, and education, was officially inaugurated today at Govt Girls Model Higher Sec School (Ranibagh) Anantnag.
The prestigious event was graced by the presence of the esteemed Principal Secretary of School Education and Higher Education, Sh Alok Kumar along with Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syeed Fakhrudin Hamid and Director School Education Kashmir, Dr Tassaduq Hussain Mir, other dignitaries and enthusiastic participants.
The Shanti Yatra-2023 is an initiative that seeks to foster a spirit of harmony and understanding among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. Organized by the Department of School Education, this year’s yatra promises to be a significant step toward promoting the values of peace and education. The flag-off ceremony was a moment of pride and inspiration as the Principal Secretary, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Director School Education Kashmir, District Officers, local officials and teachers, inaugurated the yatra. The event witnessed the participation of students, teachers, and NCC/ NSS volunteers from various educational institutions across the District. Speaking at the inauguration, the Principal Secretary emphasized the importance of education in promoting peace and prosperity. He stated, “Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is a powerful tool that can bring people together, bridge divides, and foster understanding. Shanti Yatra-2023 aims to instill these values in our youth, who are the future of our nation. “The Shanti Yatra-2023 will encompass a series of educational and cultural activities. Participants will also embark on a symbolic journey, visiting educational institutions and cultural landmarks to promote unity and celebrate diversity. The yatra will traverse different regions of Jammu & Kashmir, engaging with students and communities along the way to spread the message of peace and harmony.
