Three militant-associates along with arms, incriminating material held in Sopore: Police

Sopore: Three militant associates were arrested in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday evening police said in a statement.

A police spokesperson in a statement said that Sopore Police arrested three OGWs and seized one pistol and some mobile phones with other incriminating materials.

The police statment reads that during a routine check at Fruit Mandi crossing in Sopore on March 31, 2024, Sopore Police, along with 22 RR and 179 BN CRPF, observed suspicious behavior from three individuals attempting to flee from the spot.

The trio were intercepted and were apprehended. They were identified as Faisal Ahmad Kachroo S/o Farooq Ahmad Kachroo R/o Baba Yousuf Sopore, Aqib Mehraj Kana S/o Mehraj-Ud-din Kana R/o Sangrampora Sopore, and Adil Akbar Gojree S/o Mohammad Akbar Gojree R/o Khushal Matoo Sopore.

Upon searching them, a pistol and mobile phones were recovered. The trio failed to justify the contents of their phones, which contained incriminating evidence. While carrying inspection of their cell phones, a pistol yielding pictures of the accused persons were found. Infact these individuals are trying to disrupt peace and tranquility of the area.

A case has been registered under FIR No.68/2024 U/S 7/25 Arms Act and 13 UAPA Act at Police Station Sopore, with investigations ongoing, the police statement reads.
