GOC-Northern Command awarded the ‘Param Vishishth Seva Medal’

Srinagar: President Droupadi Murmu has approved Gallantry awards to 80 Armed Forces personnel, including 12 posthumous, on the eve of the 75th Republic Day. These include six Kirti Chakras, including three posthumous; 16 Shaurya Chakras, including two posthumous; 53 Sena Medals, including seven posthumous; one Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry) and four Vayu Sena Medals (Gallantry).

Lt.Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC-Northern Command, has been awarded the Highest Recognition of Armed Forces ‘Param Vishishth Seva Medal’.

The Northern Command of the Indian Army is a very important operational command which is entrusted with the defence of borders with China and Pakistan apart from tackling the counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
