Baramulla: Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing encounter in Hathlanga area of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, police said. The search operation is still underway.
This is the second encounter in Baramulla district in the past two days. On Thursday, one terrorist was killed in an encounter in Sopore area of the district.
The police said that the identity of the terrorists killed in the Hathlanga encounter is yet to be ascertained.
The Kashmir Police tweeted an update on the encounter, saying: “#BaramullaEncounterUpdate: 01 more #terrorist killed (Total 02). Search operation in progress. Further details shall follow.”
The encounter comes amid a surge in violence in Kashmir. In the past few months, there have been a number of encounters between security forces and terrorists.
The police have appealed to the people to cooperate with the security forces in their operations against terrorists.
