Sopore, the hotbed of radical Islam in Kashmir witnessed a horrific terrorist attack today in which two policemen and two civilians were killed. Three policemen suffered injuries in the attack.
Sopore is the home turf of Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who contested many elections from here during his political career. Sopore, regarded as the “Apple Town of Kashmir”, is about 45 km from capital Srinagar. The attack is a desperate attempt by the terrorists to keep Kashmiris in a state of panic and refuse to let them enjoy a peaceful life. Senior officers of JK Police said that two to three terrorists were involved in the attack.
